Mathijs Verhagen

Phd student


Mathijs did his Bachelor in Nanobiology at the TU Delft where he worked on polarity establishment in budding yeast in the lab of Liedewij Laan. After his BSc, Mathijs did a master in Technology Management at the TU Delft where he performed a quantitative study focusing on Business Model Innovation in small and medium sized enterprises. Mathijs continued his master studies in Nanobiology at TU Delft and Erasmus University Rotterdam. In his first internship, he worked on the maturation of human iPSC derived cardiomyocytes in Ncardia, Leiden. He joined the Fodde lab for his master thesis on phenotypic plasticity in cancer metastasis, where he characterized plastic EpCAMlo cancer cells with single cell RNA sequencing.

Mathijs will work as a PhD student on a KWF project entitled “Secretory Paneth-like cells as the origin of intestinal cancer”.
